GEMS Seva ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through gems-seva.org, our donation forms, member accounts, events and Partner Support pages, and how we use and protect it.

 

Information we collect

• Information you give us: your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, gift amounts and preferences, notes you add to a gift, event registrations, messages you send us, and your member profile.

• Payment information: processed by our payment providers. We receive confirmation of the payment and the last digits of your card or account, never the full number.

• Automatic information: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit, and cookies used to run the site, keep you signed in and measure traffic.

• Phone verification: if you sign up with a mobile number, we send a one-time code by text message to confirm it. Message and data rates may apply. We do not send marketing text messages.

 

How we use it

We use your information to process gifts and send receipts and year-end statements; run member accounts and the Partner Support pages; manage event registrations; report to you on our work; send newsletters and appeals, which you can stop at any time; keep the accounting and tax records the law requires; and protect the site against fraud and misuse.

 

What we never do

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.

 

Who we share it with

• Service providers that run our website, payments, email and accounting, under confidentiality obligations and only for our purposes.

• Professional advisers and auditors, under confidentiality.

• Authorities, when the law requires it or to protect the rights and safety of others.

• Our ministry partners in Nepal and India receive your contact details only if you ask us to share them. Otherwise, gifts are reported to partners in total or without your name.

 

Email

Every newsletter or appeal includes an unsubscribe link, and we honor requests within 10 business days. Receipts and account notices are still sent while they are needed.

 

Your choices and rights

Wherever you live, you may ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to send you a copy. Send your request through our contact form. We will confirm your identity and reply within 45 days. We keep gift and tax records for as long as the law requires (generally seven years), even after a deletion request. If we decline a request, you may appeal by replying to our response. We treat a browser's Global Privacy Control signal as a request to opt out of any sharing that the law treats as a sale.

 

Children

This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, tell us through our contact form and we will delete it.

 

Security and storage

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your information. No system is completely secure. Our service providers may store data in the United States or other countries.

 

Changes

We may update this policy and will post the new effective date on this page.
